The School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences from the Â鶹ÊÓƵ is offering three GTA/PhD studentships starting in September 2025.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the supervisors of the GTA projects to discuss their suitability and eligibility before they apply. If you have interests in more than one GTA projects, please discuss with the GTA project supervisors and apply only to the one that interests you most.
Please upload the following mandatory documents when you apply.
1. Your CV
2. Your undergraduate and postgraduate education certificates and transcripts in English. If you have not done any postgraduate education, it is sufficient to upload your undergraduate education certificates and transcripts. If you have not graduated, upload your existing transcripts.
3. A personal research statement having maximum of 3-4 pages. It should contain:
a. A section explaining why you want to take a PhD and why we should consider your application
b. A section describing your research and work experiences, or any experiences that you think is relevant to the project.
c. International candidates only - Give details of how you intend to fund the difference between UK and Overseas fees for the duration of your PhD.
d. A research proposal of the GTA project. For this, you can either:
- Provide an outline of *your own* research proposal (but having discussed with potential supervisor first) or
- Provide a summary of your understanding of the potential supervisor’s proposed project or
- Other options such as discussing with the potential supervisor and together with the proposed supervisor, proposing a PhD project.
The evaluation of your project will include input from the potential supervisor and failure to contact the proposed supervisor may result in automatic rejection.
4. A teaching statement having maximum of 1 page. Summarize your teaching experience and say clearly what your role was, and how much independence you had. If space permits, you may optionally add a paragraph on your approach to teaching. Failure to provide this document may result in a low score on the teaching-related criteria which may lower the overall score of the application. 5. Two academic references (The project supervisors cannot act as referees)
6. Your English language Test Scores, if you are an international student
7. In the supervisor section include the name of the supervisor and project title you want to apply for.
We will not consider your application if you apply for multiple GTA projects, or there are missing mandatory documents.
