World-renowned sociologist to deliver Anthropocene lecture
Professor Bruno Latour, French sociologist, philosopher and anthropologist, will give lecture at Leicester.
Professor Bruno Latour, the award-winning and renowned sociologist, philosopher and anthropologist, will deliver a lecture on the Anthropocene at the Â鶹ÊÓƵ on Monday 3 June 2019.
Emeritus Professor at Sciences Po, Paris, Professor Latour is recognised as one of the world’s most influential contemporary thinkers. He was the recipient of the 2013 Holberg Prize, awarded annually to outstanding scholars by the Norwegian government, for his interdisciplinary research.
The lecture, titled ‘Do the critical zone give a handle to the Politics of the Anthropocene?’, will be part of a wider launch event for Leicester’s newly-formed Anthropocene Research Group. The Group draws together science, social science, arts and humanities research to best explore the causes of climate change and the effective actions needed to mitigate harmful trends.
The afternoon of guest speakers and engaging discussion will be followed by an exhibition and drinks reception, confronting some of the most important questions of the present day.
The launch event, ‘The world of business on an Anthropocene Earth’, begins at 2.00pm on Monday 3 June, in the Peter Williams Lecture Theatre in the Fielding Johnson Building on the Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s main campus.
