The Â鶹ÊÓƵ is a partner in the first event, which will include Professor Kevin SchÏ‹rer, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Enterprise, among its speakers.

is a non-profit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less.

TED has established TEDx, which supports individuals or groups in hosting local, self- organized TED-style events around the world.  At the TEDxLeicester event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

Professor Schϋrer, who was involved in the , will be talking about how the University’s research has an impact in the city of Leicester. He will look at research which has cultural, social and economic impact in the city, including the work of the Leicester Diabetes Centre; the Letterbox Club; the discovery of Richard III and DNA fingerprinting and our engineering research which has resulted in projects such as ASDEC which support local businesses.

Students from the University will also present social enterprise ideas in a talk about ‘reimagining, retrofitting and regreening’ Leicester, while representatives of the Enterprise and Business Development team will be available to answer questions at the Â鶹ÊÓƵ stand.
