School of Chemistry
Research projects
In the later stages of your course (BSc - Level 3 and MChem - Level 4), you will be required to carry out an undergraduate research project. You are able to do a project in any of our research groups. We also offer education-based projects for those students interested in pursuing a career in teaching.
School of Chemistry ranks highly
The School of Chemistry performed extremely well in the latest (REF, the UK system for assessing research quality). Highlights include:
- 100% of our research assessed as 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent', one of only six universities to achieve this distinction.
- We are ranked 22nd in the UK for the overall quality of our research in Chemistry ().
The BSc - Level 3 projects are designed to last for one semester, while the MChem - Level 4 projects span two semesters. These projects give every student a taste of the cutting-edge research we do in the Department. In a lot of cases, students find their results are published in leading journals - so not only will you have experience working on innovative research, you can also boost your CV by having your name on a published article.
