A group of students at the Â鶹ÊÓƵ are hoping to break new ground by building a formula racing car that can compete at Silverstone.
The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Racing is set to compete in Formula Student 2023, which takes place at the legendary racing ground.
The Formula Student competition sees teams of student engineers from across the globe come to the legendary racing track. Silverstone to take part in a series of challenges.
The University team has been competing in Formula Student since 2013 but until now, it has been unable to get a car to successfully complete a lap of the track.
This year, with the help of UK businesses, the Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s team hope to progress further in the competition than they ever have before.
One business that is supporting the car build and sponsoring the team is the CNC machining firm, , which has manufactured the vehicle's uprights.
Monica Peeris, Team Principal for Â鶹ÊÓƵ racing said: “After years of steady progress, the project underwent a significant revival in the past 2 years – with changes being implemented at every level from management to engineering processes.
“Equipped with the knowledge we have gained from the lessons learnt over the past year and feedback from the competition, we feel confident that we can put forward a competitive entry this year.”
She added: “The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Racing is proud to work with a large range of sponsors and is very grateful for their support of the team with parts or monetary sponsorships such as Get It Made who manufactured our uprights.”
